After the test wells proved that vertical wells are not an option for drinking water in Alleghany, the original idea of drilling horizontally at the Ram Spring was tried in early May of 2017. A huge thank you goes out to Neil's Control Blasting for going "above and beyound" and helping to get this done!
As a result of this effort the water at the Ram Spring was reclassified by the State Division of Drinking Water from "Ground water under the influence of surface water" to just "ground water". This change removes the need for a full-blown treatment plant. Water quality data is still being compiled to determine the extent of treatment (if any) needed. A trace amount of chlorine is being maintained in the finished water with direction from the State Division of Drinking Water.
